How to Measure Your Feet, Calf, and Shaft Height
How to Measure Your Feet
-
Set Up Your Measuring Area:
- Place a sheet of paper flat on the floor with one edge against a wall.
- Ensure you have a pencil and a ruler or measuring tape ready.
-
Position Your Foot:
- Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall.
- Distribute your weight evenly for an accurate measurement.
-
Mark and Measure:
- Hold the pencil vertically and mark the tip of your longest toe on the paper.
- Use a ruler or tape measure to measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
- Record your foot length in centimeters for consistency.
-
Repeat for Both Feet:
- Measure both feet, as they can differ in size. Use the larger measurement.
How to Measure Your Calf
-
Position Yourself:
- Sit on a chair with your foot flat on the floor (recommended) or stand in a relaxed position.
-
Locate the Widest Part:
- Identify the fullest part of your calf—usually halfway between the ankle and the knee.
-
Wrap and Measure:
- Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around this part of your calf.
- Ensure the tape is parallel to the ground and not too tight. Record the circumference in centimeters.
-
Repeat for Both Calves (Optional):
- Calf sizes may differ slightly. Measure both calves for the best fit.
How to Measure Shaft Height
-
Understand Shaft Height:
- This is the distance from the top of the heel to the top edge of the boot shaft.
-
Position the Boot:
- Place the boot upright on a flat surface.
-
Measure the Height:
- Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure from the top of the heel (not the outsole) to the top edge of the shaft.
- This measurement helps determine where the boot will reach on your leg.
How to Measure Your Thigh
Note: Measure your thighs only if you are purchasing thigh-high boots or similar footwear that requires a thigh circumference measurement.
-
Position Yourself:
- Stand upright or sit in a relaxed position with your leg slightly bent for accuracy.
-
Locate the Widest Part:
- Find the thickest part of your thigh—typically a few inches below your hip joint.
-
Wrap and Measure:
- Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around the widest part of your thigh.
- Ensure the tape is parallel to the ground and not too tight.
- Record the circumference in centimeters.
