How to Measure Your Feet, Calf, and Shaft Height

How to Measure Your Feet

  1. Set Up Your Measuring Area:
    • Place a sheet of paper flat on the floor with one edge against a wall.
    • Ensure you have a pencil and a ruler or measuring tape ready.
  2. Position Your Foot:
    • Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall.
    • Distribute your weight evenly for an accurate measurement.
  3. Mark and Measure:
    • Hold the pencil vertically and mark the tip of your longest toe on the paper.
    • Use a ruler or tape measure to measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
    • Record your foot length in centimeters for consistency.
  4. Repeat for Both Feet:
    • Measure both feet, as they can differ in size. Use the larger measurement.

How to Measure Your Calf

  1. Position Yourself:
    • Sit on a chair with your foot flat on the floor (recommended) or stand in a relaxed position.
  2. Locate the Widest Part:
    • Identify the fullest part of your calf—usually halfway between the ankle and the knee.
  3. Wrap and Measure:
    • Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around this part of your calf.
    • Ensure the tape is parallel to the ground and not too tight. Record the circumference in centimeters.
  4. Repeat for Both Calves (Optional):
    • Calf sizes may differ slightly. Measure both calves for the best fit.

How to Measure Shaft Height

  1. Understand Shaft Height:
    • This is the distance from the top of the heel to the top edge of the boot shaft.
  2. Position the Boot:
    • Place the boot upright on a flat surface.
  3. Measure the Height:
    • Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure from the top of the heel (not the outsole) to the top edge of the shaft.
    • This measurement helps determine where the boot will reach on your leg.

How to Measure Your Thigh

Note: Measure your thighs only if you are purchasing thigh-high boots or similar footwear that requires a thigh circumference measurement.

  1. Position Yourself:
    • Stand upright or sit in a relaxed position with your leg slightly bent for accuracy.
  2. Locate the Widest Part:
    • Find the thickest part of your thigh—typically a few inches below your hip joint.
  3. Wrap and Measure:
    • Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around the widest part of your thigh.
    • Ensure the tape is parallel to the ground and not too tight.
    • Record the circumference in centimeters.
